Renowned Harp-Guitarist’s Visual Show Lights Up Her “Eclipse” CD Release Tour

Nashville, Tenn.: Muriel Anderson, the first female National Fingerstyle Guitar Champion, notably admired by the likes of Chet Atkins and Les Paul, takes you on a visual journey as she plays songs from her new CD, “Eclipse.”

The show begins with a virtual re-enactment of the solar eclipse on a large screen behind her as she caresses strains of Cat Stevens’ “Moonshadow” from her 20-string harp guitar. Images in perfect sync with the music take the listener on a virtual tour of the wonders of cosmos, then around the world.

Anderson had gathered along with people from all over the world on the lawn of the Capitol building in Nashville, harp-guitar in hand, to play and watch the August 2017 solar eclipse while her partner, photo-artist Bryan Allen took photos. Anderson says: “Bryan and I wanted to capture that feeling and the sharing of that experience with friends, so we created “Eclipse” along with the new visual show.”

Besides “Moonshadow,” the full-length CD includes tunes such as Van Morrison’s “Moondance,” Joni Mitchell’s “Both Sides Now” and the Beatles’ “Here Comes the Sun,” along with Anderson’s original compositions. Instead of the usual jewel box, the CD is innovatively packaged within a greeting card featuring Allen’s eclipse photography. You can check it out and hear a track at murielanderson.com/eclipse.

Anderson and Allen’s previous collaboration, Nightlight Daylight won a dozen awards, including being named by Guitar Player Magazine as a Noteworthy Guitar Album of the Past 50 Years. It was also responsible for the beginning of their love story. Anderson: “When I first encountered Bryan’s work, I was amazed to find that his photo-art was saying the same thing as my music. We started working together and discovered that we also had an affinity of the heart.”

About Muriel Anderson:

One of the world’s foremost fingerstyle guitarists and harp-guitarists, Muriel Anderson is the first woman to have won the National Fingerstyle Guitar Championship. Her CD “Nightlight Daylight” was chosen as one of the top 10 CDs of the decade by Guitar Player Magazine, and her “Heartstrings” recording accompanied the astronauts on the space shuttle Discovery. She has performed/recorded with Chet Atkins, Les Paul, Victor Wooten and the Nashville Chamber Orchestra. Her obvious joy of music, humor and her facility across the genres of folk, classical, jazz, bluegrass and international music is revered by guitarists worldwide. An engaging performer, Muriel’s unique approach to the instrument virtually transforms the guitar into a lyrical choir, then a marching band, then a Japanese koto, then a Bluegrass band, one minute launching into a Beatles’ tune and the next, a Rodrigo concerto. Muriel is host of the renowned Muriel Anderson’s ALL STAR GUITAR NIGHT® and founder of the MUSIC FOR LIFE ALLIANCE charity.
